Success and failure

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
~Sir Winston Churchill

Just cos I like it.

Hopefully after a while, though, the failures dwindle, hey Mr Churchill? And achievements take over. We hope.

And now for something completely different (and yet quite relevant to the topic!) - what the??? is so good about The Princess Bride? I just finished watching it. I know there are many people utterly devoted to it as one of the best movies ever. All I saw was cheesy comic relief and Mandi Pitinkin doing his best Antonio Banderas impersonation. And that small guy with the annoying voice. And the hero - it took me half the movie to figure out that yes, he is a real man, not a lip-synching cardboard cutout.
So please enlighten me, if you can. :)

Its just a cool movie, silly and funny and cute. With the hero rescuing the maiden....LOL I think its Mandi that steals the show though. Did you see him on rove recently?

As for the quote, well Ive failed that.

Yes I did see him on Rove. Funny bloke. I think he does steal the show... "Hello. My name is blah blah (?) Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die". LOL!

Yes I think Sir Winston was exaggerating just a little - you'd have to be pretty spectacular to not lose ANY enthusiasm after a few failures. I guess the key is to find it again and keep on going. :)

no, no, no, sumara. i'm going to have block this out of my head and pretend you never said it.
then we can still be friends.

ok, here's a few things.
firstly antonio banderas does a mandi pantinkin impression.
secondly
it's the first time carey elwis did this kind of spoofy thing. so it was new then.

did you honestly not laugh at 'i've been mostly dead all day'?

and the kid interrupting.

and that fantasticly choreographed fight at the top of the cliffs of the insanity...

ok, i saw it first when i was young, so it made an impression. i guess i will always have a soft spot for it.

Aaaah Jo. I was just waiting for someone to say "Mandi did it first, not Antonio". :-) Fair enough.
I can't even watch the ads for that new detective show Mandi's in without saying "hello. My name is blah blah Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" *vengeful sneer* :-)

I might've laughed at "I've been mostly dead all day"... I don't remember now...

The fight was pretty good now that I think of it.

Ok, Jo, you're right. It's worth liking. I think I was in the middle of a Johnny Depp/Pirates fantasy phase when I watched it so maybe I was a tad judgemental.

You watched it when you were young? Must've been pretty recently then?
So can we still be friends? ;-)

If it makes you feel any better, I realised last night that I started school before Keira Knightley was born. !
